The ICT Academy's Online Newborn Infant Care Specialist training course curriculum is developed by devoted child care educators specializing in early childhood education and baby development. This is an excellent continuing education opportunity to those who will care for newborns and young infants and want formal training. The training covers a variety of topics from infant health & safety/ basic infant CPR to caring for fussy babies. DISTANCE LEARNING STUDENTS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Who should take the class? Anyone who will care for a newborn or young infant. The class is geared for professionals who plan to work with newborns for pay as a nanny, night nanny, baby nurse, daycare provider or newborn care specialist but much of the information can also be used for expectant parents.
Is the online class different than the classroom training? The same information that is covered in the classroom is also covered online. There are audio and visual/video components to make the online training fun and interactive!
What are the requirements? Students must be 18 years of age or older, must have access to a computer and the internet, must be able to speak, read, and write English well enough to understand and complete the course material without assistance.
Will I get a certificate if I take the online training? YES! Once you successfully complete the course and pass the test, you will receive a course completion certificate mailed to you along with a booklet and some material for reference. U.S. shipping is included in the course tuition. There is an additional fee for international students.
How long is the course? The online training is a self-paced course and each student is given one week to complete the course although it may be completed in a full day or two depending on how much time you have for study each day.
Is Job Placement Assistance Available? We have created the baby nurse directory for students who have completed the training. Once you successfully complete your training, you will be eligible to register and be listed in your state for jobs.
WHO SHOULD ENROLL Inexperienced and experienced Infant Caregivers, Nannies, Au Pairs, HHA's, CNA's, Babysitters, Child Care Providers, Daycare Teachers, or anyone who will care for newborn infant babies professionally as a Newborn Care Specialist or Newborn Nanny (formerly known as a baby 'nurse'). Classes are held in English. This class is a non-medical child care class and will not prepare for work in a medical facility. This class is appropriate for current and future newborn infant caregivers and is appropriate for professional development; it is not a parenting class since 25% of the class covers professional topics.
